3/5- The 2nd grade students did an awesome job creating scaled model of a monument they would like to create for our GA hero’s. Pictures will be up this week. The next unit the students will create a new toy using force and motion. 2/4- The second grade students enjoyed modeling the ways shadows can change with the rotation of the Earth. The next unit the students will take a close look into the Georgia historical figures and create a monument in their honor. This creative bunch I can’t wait to see what they do. 1/9- The students are learning so much about space in their home room classes. In STEM they will create a structure that can show how a shadow changes throughout the day. 12/6- The students have learned so much about fables this year that they are going to take the information they have learned and apply it in the STEM lab. They are building a trap for a mouse. Stay tuned for more pictures. 11/4- The students have been contacted by the Green Glue company to find the best way to make glue using different materials. In this activity the students are also using their math skills to graph how many beans their glue will hold. 10/22- Spalding Drive 2nd grade students have been contacted by the Department of Transportation to help them to find a way to melt the ice/snow. They have reached out to us to help them figure out which material will melt the ice the fastest. The students not only observed the results with different materials they used the data to justify their answer. 10/8- Ask your children about their awesome paintings using salt and water and what they noticed when they dried.
9/26- The bridges the students created to save the 3 billy goats from the horrible troll were awesome. They did a great job working with their team mates, using the new information they learned, and recording what they did so that they can communicate their results. Check out the slide show to see some awesome pictures.
9/6- The kids learned all about bridges and what makes a good bridge. Next time I see them they will take what they have learned a create a bridge that is strong enough to allow the Billy Goats to cross.
8/26- We started by listening to the story "Three Billy Goat's Gruff. The students identified the problem of the story. We then learned about what an architect is. We also learned about all the different kinds of bridges. Attached is the Blendspace where some of the videos are linked. bit.ly/2ZpObeh
